Zagrebački Zlodusi Dobri Duh Zagreba — Independent Publication, Fanzine, collection
Zagrebački Zlodusi Dobri duh Zagreba – Zagrebački zlodusi was an independent project developed in collaboration with students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb and presented during the first opening of the Planet space in Zagreb. Conceived as a publication, fanzine, and mini fashion collection, the project examined the inherent contradictions that define Zagreb as a city—its dualities, contrasts, and complex urban identity.
After returning to Zagreb following two decades in Amsterdam, I initiated this project as part of a broader research process focused on understanding the dynamics of belonging and non-belonging within the city. The work approached Zagreb analytically, looking at the characteristics that shape daily life: its cultural layers, its visible and invisible structures, and the tensions between tradition, change, and contemporary urban experience.
Through collaboration with students of the Academy, the project explored the symbolic “good spirits” and “ambiguousforces” of Zagreb—concepts used to describe the city’s opposing qualities and the nuances that influence its atmosphere. The results were translated into a multidisciplinary format combining visual research, graphic design, text, and fashion elements, forming a cohesive artistic output.
Presenting Dobri duh Zagreba at the opening of Planet served as a professional marker for a new phase of the brand. It positioned Planet within the cultural landscape of Zagreb and underscored its commitment to independent production, creative research, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
The project stands as an early example of Planet’s direction—integrating art, design, publishing, and fashion into a single platform, and contributing to the ongoing dialogue about contemporary Zagreb and its evolving identity.
